I'll admit... more often than not, I tend to forget taking photos once I step into my favorite restaurant because I simply want to enjoy the dining experience. It was only a few days ago when a readers asked me for an authentic Korean restaurant suggestion that I remembered to share Doniz Korean Restaurant in Malate with you.
Doniz Korean Restaurant is a simple Korean Restaurant just across Robinson's Place Manila.
It has a homey feel with its wooden fixtures and dividers. It has frame of its dishes and promos hanged on its austere white walls. According to our server, their usual customers are also Koreans.
A familiar sign I love seeing in an authentic restaurant is their utensils.
Food
Complimentary Banchan |
A Complimentary Banchan or side dish is always served ahead. My family members always seek refuge to the vegetables whenever they find the food to spicy. On the otherhand, I love those raddish kimchi so I'm glad I can have them all by myself.
Jumukbab (100 php) |
The Jumukbab is a rice roll with seaweed and complemented with sesame oil. The taste is mild and appetizing.
Tukbulgogi Bulgogi Jungol (250 php) |
We ordered the Tukbulgogi Bulgogi Jungol. Being a jungol, it is a casserole type. This one is a Korean beef barbecue with soup. It has carrots, onions, leeks and glass noodles. This is very delicious! I love it! The serving size is good for sharing.
Sundae Kukbab Nejang Kukbab (250 php) |
My brother wanted to try the Sundae Kukbab Nejang Kukbab. It is our first time to try this. It is blood sausage with pork intestine in bone soup. It is also served with rice.
Sundae or Blood Sausage |
The Sundae or Blood Sausage is really delicious! It's worth the try and I'd certainly want to have more of it. It made the soup very flavorful.
Ojingo Bokum (400 php) |
The Ojingo Bokum is stir-fried spicy squid. This is also good for sharing. But, since I'm the only one who is fond of eating spicy dishes in our family, I always finish this all for myself. I enjoy this dish very much. The spiciness is just right so you could appreciate all the flavors of the dish.
Baechu Gook |
The Ojingo Bokum comes with a Baechu Gook or cabbage soup. It's light and refreshing.
When craving for authentic Korean cuisine, Doniz Korean Restaurant is one of the best places to visit. The great proportions and the food quality justifies their pricing. It's also a great place to enjoy an authentic Korean feel. The ambiance and customers also pretty much gives you an authentic Korean restaurant experience. The staffs are very courteous and the service is great.
