This meal is formulated from an excerpt of Rizal's letter to his family while in Paris on May 16, 1869:

The Ulam ni Rizal sa Paris includes a choice of Sinigang na Baboy or Sinigang sa Batwan Bangus Belly, a side dish of Grilled Eggplant with Tomatoes and Onions topped with Bagoong, two cups of plain rice and two glasses of ice tea. Merienda ni Rizal
Inspired by the letter of Rizal from Dapitan to Trinidad Rizal which states:
"Natanggap ko ang tatlong sako ng bigas at dalawa pang kahon: is ay naglalaman ng tsokolate... Dito labis kaming nagkakasundo ni Ms. B na gumagawa ng suman."
The Merienda ni Rizal includes a traditional Filipino snack of suman served with organic sugar and bottomless native tsokolate.
