Among all restaurant chains belonging to the
Bistro Group, I'm sure you'll agree that
Bulgogi Brothers is one of the most raved. It's a
Korean BBQ restaurant and as a
bulgogi fan, I knew I was bound to succumb to my craving.
The Bulgogi Brothers in
SM Mall of Asia is fairly new so its not as crowded as their other branches yet.
Its interior is like traditional meets modern
Korean. The wooden fixtures as well as the large painting gives off a classic flair wile the modern lighting, leatherette seats and induction cooker is on the modern side.
Food

Complimentary Appetizers, Mixed Salad and Banchan |
After they took our orders, we were given our Complimentary Appetizers: Boiled Quail Eggs, Sweet Potatoes and Corn. We were also given a Mixed Salad which was mildly spicy. Being a Korean restaurant, I expected that there will be Banchans too. They served three variants: Kimchi, Pickled Spinach and Spicy Eggplant.
|
Complimentary Tea of the Day: Bori Cha |
They also had a Complimentary Tea of the Day in our case it was the Bori Cha or Barley Tea.
Ala Carte
|
Hanbang Suyuk (550 php) |
The Hanbang Suyuk is thinly-sliced boiled pork slices with kimchi, roasted garlic and chives. It is eaten by placing all the elements in a lettuce similar to Samgyupsal. The highlight of this dish is the tasty and tender pork slices which was further enhanced by the other ingredients. This is delicious!
|
♥ Haemul Gungjung Mandu Small 6 pcs. (450 php) |
The Haemul Gungjung Mandu is a fried mandu served with seafood and a spicy sauce. The mandu are perfectly crunchy which made this a delightful option.
|
♥ Dubu Steak 6 pcs. (245 php) |
The Dubu Steak is fried tofu drenched in teriyaki sauce and served with bulgogi and bean sprouts. We all enjoyed this because it was light and refreshing especially when eaten together with the crunchy beansprouts.
|
Bulgogi Burger (295 php) |
The Bulgogi Burger with cheese is served with french fries and ketchup. At first glance, I was surprised with this item. Not because it rhymes with Bulgogi Brothers but because it looks like the typical western burger order right? But, its the special Unyang Style patty that makes a significant difference.
|
Haemul Pajeon (450 php) |
The Haemul Pajeon is filled with seafood and leeks. It is soft and fun to chew which made it pleasurable to eat.
Barbecue
|
♥ Bulgogi Brothers Special (1,495 php) |
The Bulgogi Brothers Special is a must order when at Bulgogi Brothers because it is their signature dish. It is composed of the heart-shaped Unyang Style Bulgogi and the Gwangyang Style Bulgogi. Before this, I had no idea of styles in terms of bulgogi and it made me wonder what style of bulgogi did I consume before. But, I am certain that I have never encountered the Unyang Style Bulgogi before. It had a distinct unforgettable crumby texture that makes it feel like it melts in your mouth.
|
Gwangyang Style Bulgogi |
The Gwangyang Style Bulgogi is the familiar sweet and tasty whole meat type of bulgogi. It's soft, lean and succulent when cooked. I enjoyed this especially with rice.
Soups & Stews
|
Haemul Doenjang-jigae (395 php) |
The Haemul Doenjang-jigae is mildy spicy with a sweetness from the vegetables and seafood.
|
♥ Kimchi-Jigae (395 php) |
The Kimchi-Jigae is spicy red kimchi-based soup. It also has some pork and tofu. Although it was thick and red, the spiciness is not too hot so you can drink the soup comfortably.
|
♥ Galbi Tang (420 php) |
The Galbi Tang is my favorite Korean soup. Their version had generous amount of tender spare ribs, radishes and egg. It was tasty and soothing to drink.
Drinks
|
Kiwi Juice (140 php) and Misutgaru (150 php) |
For drinks, you could opt for your preferred fresh fruit juices like the Kiwi Juice or try something new like the Misutgaru which is made of brown rice. The Misutgaru is so thick and powdery that it can be difficult to sip when you're near the bottom.
|
♥ Yuja Ade (120 php) |
I opted for the Yuja Ade which is a citron-based beverage. This is a refreshing palate cleanser. The lemon peel at the bottom is also fun to munch on.
Desserts
|
Korean Ice Cream |
For dessert, they have a selection of Korean Ice Cream. They have the Melona melon, strawberry and banana and other brands too.
Tsinoy Foodies Verdict
Bulgogi Brothers offers a wide range of Korean dishes that will guarantee you a pleasurable Korean feasting. Aside from their delicious bulgogi, be sure to check out other menu items. The price is a bit on the high side but considering this is an international franchise, it is understandable.
